Infection Preventionist – Full-Time, Days

Union Position | No Weekends | Non-Bedside Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Infection Preventionist to join our team in a full-time, day-shift role. This is a non-clinical, non-bedside position focused on infection control and prevention across all hospital departments. You will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and promoting a safe environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops and delivers infection prevention programs and training across hospital departments; serves as a subject matter expert on hospital infection control policies.
• Assesses patient care needs and provides clinical consultation with a focus on infection control, while considering age-specific and psychosocial factors.
• Works in close collaboration with the Director and Chief of Infectious Diseases to coordinate all infection control activities.
• Collects, analyzes, and reports infection data for internal use and submission to regulatory and public health agencies.
• Partners with Performance Improvement and Risk Management teams to design and monitor infection control studies within specific units.

Schedule & Shift:

• Full-Time, Days
• Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• No weekend shifts

Top Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
• Active NYS RN license required
• 3+ years of experience in Infection Control/Prevention in a healthcare setting
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Meditech is a plus
