Job Overview: Together with Rutgers Cancer Institute, the state s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and led by board-certified oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, and radiation oncologists, we provide the most advanced treatment options, including clinical trials, sophisticated radiation therapy techniques and complex surgical procedures in a comforting, healing environment. This role will support holistic oncology/hematology care by administering chemotherapy/immunotherapy, iron infusions, injections, blood transfusions and will monitor the patient s response. The nurse will be expected to perform clinical assessments, symptom management, and nursing care of venous access devices.

Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey RN License or approved RN license required
  • ASN or BSN required
  • AHA BLS prior to start date required
  • Hospital acute and/or subacute care experience required; previous Oncology experience strongly preferred

Essential Functions: The Registered Nurse (RN) organizes and administers individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports the philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
